i want to put a you tube video on the front portal page how would i do this?

Wouldnt you just paste the embed code from youtube?

All you need to do is enable the YouTube plugin. Then in your post you need to use the [youtube] tags in this format...
Code:
[youtube](video id)[/youtube]
Replace (video id) with the id of a video on youtube. (the part after "watch.php?v=")
