Jon,

My board is synologyusers.createmybb4.com, but I think this applies to all boards.

I have been getting users who are registering but never receive the activation email (or indeed any other emails from the board). One of the users is quite clever and has done some investigation. This is his response:

=======================================================
The problem is in the DNS records of their createmybb.com as the activation emails are send as noreply@createmybb.com .

According to my mail server, the activation e-mails (at least) is coming from smfpro.com (64.79.105.135) rather then createmybb.com itself. However, in the SPF records in the DNS root of createmybb.com doesn’t state that smfpro.com is allowed to send e-mails on behalf on createmybb.com !

So this means any mail server that receives an activation e-mail that has SPF checkup enabled (to help battle spam), the SPF checkup will fail and thus deny the e-mail..

To make this work, createmybb.com will have to edit their SPF record to this: v=spf1 a mx include:smfpro.com -all
 ========================================================

Does this make sense to you? I have attached a picture he sent to me.

Alan
