Why is Tools & Maintenance so slow to access?

In the admin control panel, every heading I click on gets there within 1 second, apart from tools & maintenance. That takes about 15 seconds before the screen comes up. Once there, it all seems OK and quick (I use recount & rebuild after I have removed spammers).

Any ideas why?
